Why John McCain Needs To Go

Margaret Thatcher said: “If you just set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything at any time, and you would achieve nothing.”

Let me lay this out clearly: compromise is not a dirty word. Compromise, in terms of legitimate disagreement can bear fruit. That being said, there is a time for everything, and in that time there must be a comprehensive understanding of the situation at hand. On the other end of the spectrum, there is principle. Principle, by definition, cannot be bent or broken. It is the scaffolding upon which our understanding of the world hangs. If we bend our principles through compromise, the entire frame collapses.

What I am saying is that there is a time for compromise, and a time to stand on principle. One must be savvy enough to know the difference. Unfortunately, we have politicians on the Left who exploit the weakness of those on the Right, driving bad compromises.

Let’s be clear: the Left never compromises. To the Left, “compromise” means “you bend over backwards to accommodate our needs, and we give you nothing in return.” Morons on the Right consistently fall into this trap. In a desire to be liked, and to be seen as great compromisers, and mavericks, Republicans frequently walk right into the bottomless pit that the Democrats have set up for them.

According to Politico: “Barack Obama, to hear his advisers tell it, has finally found The One he has been looking for: John McCain. ‘We have been looking literally for years for someone we can cut deals with, and finally someone has stepped up,’ a White House official said. West Wing aides say they now talk with McCain roughly every other day…While Obama and party leaders clash endlessly and hopelessly, these three men are showing it is possible to put aside political and personal grievances to get consequential stuff done, even in Washington’s currently twisted state…This new alliance has resulted in an immigration bill and a deal to avoid the nuclear option for confirming nominees, and is in preliminary conversations to avert a government shutdown over the budget. It has create trust…”

John McCain, in his never ending quest to be liked, has “compromised!” Yay! He helped craft an incredible immigration bill. Oh, wait. The immigration bill gives Democrats everything they wanted, while giving Conservatives absolutely nothing. Three cheers for compromise?

Looking ahead, I can see that averting a government shutdown over the budget will result in yet another “compromise.” This compromise will undoubtedly mean raising taxes, raising the debt ceiling, and never ever cutting spending. Can I get one cheer?

This is how the Left works. They promise Republicans a multitude of things that never materialize. Republicans–in their seemingly unlimited stupidity–simply wipe the drool off their faces and nod in agreement.

Once again, let me be clear: COMPROMISE ISN’T REAL. At least when dealing with Democrats. In addition to that, there are certain beliefs over which you should not compromise. These are beliefs based in principle. The glowing lure of “compromise” is a trick, leading you straight into the mouth of a monster.

We need to primary McCain, and all those Senators who are foolish enough to think that you can compromise with the Left. I’m sick of the spinelessness and the idiocy coming from within the Republican Party.

There is a time for compromise, and a time for principle. It’s time to stand firmly on our principle.
