Thomas Huxley said “Logical consequences are the scarecrows of fools and the beacons of wise men.” This is a definitive message for all times. This quote paints a clear picture of man–particularly politicians–from thousands of years ago, to modern times. Politicians are so void of an understanding of logic; an understanding of actions versus consequences, that they are continuously falling into traps that the average person might avoid.
Dr. Benjamin Carson, at the White House Prayer Breakfast, repeatedly criticized Obamacare; instead offering up his own ideas. According to Real Clear Politics, Carson said: “What we need to do is come up with something simple. And when I pick up my Bible, you know what I see? I see the fairest individual in the universe, God, and he’s given us a system. It’s called a tithe.
We don’t necessarily have to do 10% but it’s the principle. You make $10 billion, you put in a billion. You make $10 you put in one. Of course you’ve got to get rid of the loopholes. Some people say, ‘Well that’s not fair because it doesn’t hurt the guy who made $10 billion as much as the guy who made 10.’ Where does it say you’ve got to hurt the guy? He just put a billion dollars in the pot. We don’t need to hurt him. It’s that kind of thinking that has resulted in 602 banks in the Cayman Islands.”
Dr. Carson makes a valid point, citing a more simple, somewhat private system. He also decries punishing the wealthy simply because they are successful. Whether or not the idea itself works, or has any validity whatsoever, is not the point. The point is that a respected man practicing within the profession that would be most effected by Obamacare is speaking against it and offering simple solutions.
Obama and the Democrats issued a 2000 plus page manifesto, detailing a new system of healthcare that would allow the government to dominate a sixth of the economy. This will eventually lead to complete hath are dominance, the likes of which has been seen in Europe.
Just as we should listen to successful businessmen when deciding policy regarding the economy, we should listen to those in the medical profession when deciding policy regarding massive healthcare overhauls. Doctors have insight that politicians only wish they had.
There are, of course, numerous ways through which the healthcare system could be fixed: Tort reform, loser pays laws, across state insurance, means testing, etc. All of these are very viable options; and some are even used in other countries to much success.
Healthcare can be simplified; Obama doesn’t want it to be. Obamacare is not designed to help the poor; it is not designed to save people money–obviously, if you’ve seen the figures–it is a power grab, and a vote grab. Obamacare is designed to create a rift between “classes,” to make Obama seem as if he cares greatly. He doesn’t. We can simplify; the Left simply needs to listen to Doctors, and businessmen. Solutions can be found.
Obamacare is a behemoth that is devouring money and destroying the integrity of the healthcare industry. It is nice to see someone, especially a renowned neurosurgeon, telling it like it is.
