Bruce Willis Loudly Defends Second Amendment, Despite Liberal Hate

FRANK CAMP

A rare gem has been uncovered: a Hollywood star that has an opinion different than other stars. Most of Hollywood falls right in line with the Liberal agenda, lock, stock and barrel. As an actor, I’ve often questioned why that is. Every time I’ve asked the question of a colleague, I receive the same pretentious answer about the arts community being in touch with, and empathizing with mankind. They say that their bleeding hearts cause them to support the ideals of the Left. Of course, that is my paraphrase, but you get the picture–pretentious.

With that in mind, it’s always nice to hear news of an actor on the other side of the aisle. With all the celebrities and Democrat politicians standing firmly–if ignorantly–on the side of extreme legislative gun control, Bruce Willis has come out in support of the second amendment.

In a recent interview, Willis said: “I think that you can’t start to pick apart anything out of the Bill of Rights without thinking that it’s all going to become undone…If you take one out or change one law, then why wouldn’t they take all your rights away from you?”

In response to the popular idea of a link between films and gun violence, Willis said: “No one commits a crime because they saw a film. There’s nothing to support that…We’re not making movies about people that have gone berserk, or gone nuts. Those kind of movies wouldn’t last very long at all…It’s a difficult thing and I really feel bad for those families…I’m a father and it’s just a tragedy. But I don’t know how you legislate insanity. I don’t know what you do about it. I don’t even know how you begin to stop that.”

Willis’ opinion is that of a majority of logical Americans, but because he is in the Hollywood community, people act as if he is on the fringe. Willis is right; you cannot legislate against insanity and evil. The root of violence is the evil in man’s heart, not the guns those men seek out. Taking guns away from Americans–who are neither insane nor criminal–will not stop gun violence. Beyond that, it will not stop the killing. Means will be found to kill, no matter the situation and restrictions.

Second, to say that violence in films causes these shootings is patently absurd. If that was true, it follows that violence would be much more pervasive, given the abundance of violent films. The effect of films–if they have any effect at all–is relegated to those who are already mentally unstable, and need no additional provocation.

Finally, what I think is his most important statement. Willis essentially says that pulling the threads of one amendment will cause the others to unravel. By seizing one right, or set of rights, a precedent is set to seize the rest. You may think that an absurdity; and so did many in Germany, and Italy, and China, and North Korea.

Bruce Willis lays claim to one of very few Conservative posts in the Liberal bastion of Hollywood. His willingness to speak out is admirable, especially considering the intensity of Hollywood Liberals. But most importantly, he is absolutely correct. You cannot legislate insanity and evil, because they will always find new means to emerge victorious.
